strength coaching for runners
I’m emily.
I’ve been exactly where you are.
Running got me into fitness. It always came first - the miles, the plans, the races. Strength training felt like something other people did, something that would slow me down or bulk me up or take time away from what I actually loved.
So I yo-yo'd. Running blocks, then lifting blocks, never quite committing to both, always feeling like I had to choose.
Then I stopped choosing - and everything changed.
When I finally built strength training properly around my running, I got faster, I stopped getting injured, and I actually started enjoying training in a way I hadn't before. Not despite lifting heavy. Because of it.
That's what I've spent the last 10+ years helping runners figure out.
What I do
I'm a certified personal trainer based in London, and I work exclusively 1:1 with runners who want to get stronger without sacrificing their miles. No generic programmes, no banded glute circuits, no fluff. Just smart, bespoke coaching built around your body, your schedule, and your goals.
That coaching instinct comes from over a decade working with an unusually wide range of people - teen athletes, those in their 70s, professional and recreational sportspeople, pre and post natal clients, and those managing chronic pain or complex conditions. That breadth is what makes me a better coach. I've learned to adapt, problem-solve, and build programmes around real bodies and real lives.
Who I work best with
You're a runner first. You love it, you're committed to it, and you're starting to suspect that the missing piece isn't more miles - it's a barbell. You want someone who gets both sides, not a PT who thinks running is cardio and not a running coach who's never touched a weight.
That's where I come in.
